Day 1 Journey
arrive to hotel in Vibo Valentia.
Day 2 Tropea-Pizzo
Sightseeing of Tropea with its historical centre rich of palaces with impressive gates, the Norman Cathedral and Santa Maria of Island placed on a small promontory overlooking the sea of the beautiful Coast of Gods. In the afternoon visit of Pizzo: stop at Republic Square where you will taste the famous Ice cream “tartufo” (truffle), enjoying the view of the castle which is famous for the tragic Joachim Murat‘s death. Interesting to see is the church of Madonna from Piedigrotta, on the beach and in a cave, fully formed in the tuff.
Day 3 Zungri-Nicotera
Sightseeing of Zungri, truly impressive it seems to be suspended in time (at about XII-XIV century), where they have been found about ninety “casegrotte” (little cave where people used to live). In the afternoon visit of Nicotera with its Jewish quarter, La Giudecca, which documents the important role played by Jews in the cultural and commercial town; the visit continues with the Cathedral, rebuilt in 700 on an original medieval building, and the Museum.
Day 4 Vibo Valentia-Soriano
Sightseeing of Vibo Valentia, the St. Leoluca’s Cathedral and the adjoining State Archeological Museum inside the Norman-Swabian-Angevin Castle, full of numerous specimens, mostly of Greek, such as the precious Laminetta Aurea; ruins of the Temple of the Goddess Persephone. In the afternoon visit of Soriano, the ruins of San Domenico’s Convent, best known for the unique event of the “miraculous descent” of the picture. Stop at the Chocolate Factory Confectionery Monardo, which produces chocolate and biscuits.
