The turdiddri or turdilli are a traditional Christmas dessert in Calabria, especially of Cosenza area, and it has ancient origins.
The Brettii, the ancient population of Cosenza territory, used to knead simply water, oil and flour adding wine or Moscato (a kind of sweet wine) and at the end covering them by honey. When the Saraceni arrived, they took with them some spices so the Turdilli were spiced with cinnamon making them delicious.
