Tour in Calabria, the ancient Enotria which means “The land of the wine”: food and wine activities, guided visit of wineries and vineyards, cooking classes.

Sensorial experience and sightseeing of very interenting places and the hamlets with their history.

At the end a meeting with a local productor of liqueur who uses the fruits and herbs of Calabria. It's the occasion for discovering how his Jefferson was born, the bitter which won in the 2018 “The World Liqueur Awards”.

Day by day

For lovers or food and wine, typical dishes and live unique experiences in the wine world, a product which has millennial origins in Calabria. Sightseeings and tastings, cooking classes for learning the preparation of typical dishes of Calabrian tradition.

DAY 1 - Arrive in Calabria

Arrive in 4* hotel in Cosenza, dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 - Sightseeing of Cosenza and a local winery.

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning we stay in Cosenza area, the “magliocco” zone, a local vine variety, and guided visit of a vineyard and winery with final tasting of wines and typical products. In the afternoon sightseeing of Cosenza: a walk along Corso Telesio, in the old part of the town, with a stop at the medieval Cathedral which is an UNESCO heritage. Then we go on until Piazza XV Marzo where there is the “A. Rendano” Theatre, the Palace of Government and the Villa Comunale, an old park with several centenarians trees. The second part of the visit is in the modern side of the town along its high street, Corso Mazzini, which is pedestrian and the heart of the shopping. Moreover there is the Open Air Museum MAB where there are several statues made by important artists such as Manzù, Giorgio De Chirico, Greek, Salvator Dalì, Mimmo Rotella, Sosno. At the end the “San Francesco di Paola bridge” which was projected by the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. Come back to hotel: dinner and overnight.

DAY 3 - Cooking Class in Morano Calabro with sigtseeing of its hamlet and Saracena, “the Village of the Moscato”.

Breakfast at the hotel. Guided walking tour of Morano Calabro, on a mountainside in the Pollino National Park, belonging to “The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy“, a Club which selects small Italian towns cut off the flow of visitors and tourists. We suggest a visit to the Museum of Rural Life to know more about traditions of these people. Then move to an agriturismo for a cooking class for preparing a typical Calabrian dish. In the afternoon transfer to a little village, Saracena, very famous for the Moscato which is a sweet wine: a walk through its narrow alleys and little houses with their typical outdoor staircases. Guided tasting of Moscato wine at local producer, a “Slow food Presidium” product. Then come back to hotel: dinner and overnight.

DAY 4 - Sightseeing of Mendicino and Montalto Uffugo with liqueur tasting.

Breakfast at the hotel. Guided visit of Mendicino, hamlet close to Cosenza which hosts 2 old spinning mills: they have been restored and turned into a Silk Dinamic Museum where we tell the history of this village once a great silk producer in Southern Italy. In the afternoon sightseeing of Montalto Uffugo historical center with its old palaces and the Leoncavallo Museum which is dedicated at the famous musician and author of the important lyric opera “I Pagliacci” (The Clowns). Then visit of the Liuteria Montaltina, a traditional chord instrument workshop. An interesting meeting with a liquor producer who uses only local products and herbs. He has become famous for his “Jefferson”, a bitter which has been conferred The World Liqueur Awards 2018. Come back to hotel: dinner and overnight.

DAY 5 - Sightseeing of a farm which produces chees, tasting wine and visit of the Sila Park and Santa Severina.

Breakfast at the hotel. We go up on the mountains, in Sila National Park where you can breathe “the purest air in Europe”. A guided walk along the path of the visit center, in Cupone area, with the Botanical Garden, The Natural Museum where admiring the several species of animals of this area. The walk finishes to the wildlife enclosures. Transfer to a local farm in order to see the production of their typical cheese with a little taste of the products. In the afternoon sightseeing of Santa Severina, settled on the mountain and dominated by it’s beautiful and restored Castle and the byzantine Baptistery. The cellars of the Castle host the Enoteca Comunale Valle del Neto, a winehouse with the best production of wine in the Neto Valley. At the end move to Cirò Marina 4* star hotel: dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 - Guided visit of a vineyard in Cirò and sightseeing of Crotone

Breakfast at the hotel. Cirò area is famous for “gaglioppo” wine variety and it’s surrounded by several vineyards which produce a very good wine. Guided visit of one of local vineyard with tasting of wine. In the afternoon sightseeing of Crotone, the Pitagora’s town (famous Italian mathematician and philosopher in the 6 b. C. century) belonging to the Magna Grecia. You admire its historical centre with the National Archeological Museum which hosts evidences from the ancient Hera Lacina’s Temple (Zeus’ wife and sister). Come back to the hotel: dinner and overnight.

DAY 7 - Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to come back home.
